When a virtual consult makes sense
- A first assessment when you cannot easily get to a clinic
- A second opinion on a diagnosis, plan or surgery you are considering
- Post-operative rehab check-ins between in-person visits
- ACL, running and return-to-sport programme reviews
- Running and training load planning, and race preparation
- Desk and posture-related neck and back pain
- Home exercise programme set-up and progression

- A quiet space with room to move, about two metres
- Clothing that lets me see the area (shorts for knees and hips, a tank top for shoulders)

Questions
Virtual physio, answered
Can physiotherapy really work by video?
For many problems, yes. The most important parts of physiotherapy (a thorough history, a movement assessment, a clear explanation and a well-built exercise programme) all work well by video. If I think you need hands-on assessment or treatment, I will tell you and we can arrange an in-clinic visit.
Is virtual physiotherapy covered by insurance?
Many extended health plans cover virtual sessions with a registered physiotherapist in the same way as in-person visits, and you receive a receipt after every session. Check the details with your plan before booking.
Who can book a virtual consult?
Anyone located in Ontario at the time of the session. I am registered with the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario, so I can only provide virtual care to patients who are in Ontario when we meet.
Is it private?
Yes. Sessions run on a secure video platform, and your health information is handled with the same confidentiality as an in-person visit.
